"Wireline networks also are being redefined by next generation networks (NGNs), which are high-speed, converged circuit-switched and packet-switched networks capable of transporting and routing a multitude of services, including voice, data, video, and other multimedia, across various platforms. The wireline component also includes the Internet infrastructure and submarine cable infrastructure."[2]
