A wireless local loop (WLL) is

a wireless system [that] can be used instead of copper loops to provide basic telephone service to households. It is a connection between the switched telephone network and the customer using a radioc connection.
the provision of telephony services to residences and businesses by use of a fixed wireless network (rather than a mobile wireless network). Networks based on wireless local loop (WLL) can be installed more quickly and less expensively than those using copper lines.[1]
