Definition Edit

A wide area network (WAN) is a voice or data network that covers a broad area (i.e., metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries) and provides connections from one or more computers within an organization to one or more computers or networks that are external to such an organization. The largest and best-known example of a WAN is the Internet.
