Overview Edit

Established in 2001, the WiMAX Forum is a non-profit industry trade group that encourages the adoption of WiMAX technology. A major effort of the WiMAX Forum is designing and promoting the certification of products based on the family of IEEE 802.16 standards. The WiMAX Forum developed the WiMAX Forum Certification to ensure that products are compatible, interoperable, and conform to industry standards, guaranteeing that different vendors’ products can interoperate in the same WiMAX network. This results in greater competition in the marketplace, greater flexibility in deployment, larger target markets, and lower production costs.
