Definition Edit

A usage allowance is the amount of data a subscriber are allowed to transfer over its Internet connection, either by downloading or uploading data. Some plans allow a subscriber to download or upload an unlimited amount of data while other plans impose a limit. There also may be separate download and upload limits or there may be a combined allowance. A usage allowance is set by the user's ISP.

If a user exceeds the usage allowance, there may be additional fees imposed, or the user may be subject to throttling.
