The United Power Line Council (UPLC) is

an alliance of utilities and their technology partners working together to drive the development of broadband over power line solutions in North America. The UPLC is structured by committees that act on business, regulatory and technical issues. It hosts industry events and coordinates with other industry organizations to promote the worldwide development of broadband power line systems. The UPLC is an independent operating entity under the auspices of the Utilities Telecom Council, which is the international association for the telecom and information technology interests of utilities; and which has advocated policies to encourage the development of broadband over power line since 1998.[1]
