Overview[]
"The Federal Acquisition Regulation specifies the format that contracting officers must use for solicitations and contracts. The use of a uniform contract format (UCF) facilitates preparation of the solicitation and contract as well as reference to, and use of, those documents by offerors, contractors, and contract administrators.
"Commercial (FAR Part 12) contracts do not have to use the UCF, as FAR 12.303 prescribes the use of the Standard Form 1449 for commercial contracts. Simplified acquisitions using FAR Part 13 procedures are also exempt from UCF requirements."[2]
