Truth in Lending Act of 1968, Pub. L. No. 90-321 (Title I §104), 82 Stat. 147 (May 29, 1968), codified at 15 U.S.C. §1601.

Overview[]

The Act establishes rules regarding consumer credit; intended to help consumers understand the cost of credit and compare credit options.

The Act limits liability for fraudulent credit card charges to $50.00, in most situations. It also requires "meaningful disclosure" of key information in any consumer credit transaction.[1]
