Overview Edit

The Internet of Things extends internet connectivity beyond traditional machines like computers, smartphones and tablets to a diverse range of every-day devices that use embedded technology to interact with the environment, all via the Internet. How can this collected data be used? What new opportunities will this create for employment and economic growth? How can societies benefit from technical developments to health, transport, safety and security, business and public services?

The OECD Technology Foresight Forum facilitated discussion on what policies and practices will enable or inhibit the ability of economies to seize the benefits of the Internet of Things.
