Australian Government, Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Competition and Consumer Safeguards) Act 2010, No. 140, 2010 ("An Act to amend legislation relating to telecommunications, and for other purposes" (Dec. 15, 2010) (full-text).

Overview[]

The Act introduces a package of legislative reforms aimed at enhancing competitive outcomes in the Australian telecommunications industry and strengthening consumer safeguards. It creates the framework through which Telstra can lodge a structural separation undertaking which will be subject to review by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). If Telstra does not voluntarily implement structural separation, the Act requires the functional separation of Telstra.
