Overview[]

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is a global trade association headquartered in the United States that represents about 600 telecommunications companies. TIA helps create universal networking and education standards for the telephony, data networking, and convergence industry.

The TIA has aligned with the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA). The acronym TIA/EIA precedes a numerical designation, such as TIA/EIA-232-F, replaces the now obsolete RS (Recommended Standard) designation, for example, RS-232.
