Under the Telecommunications Act of 1996, the term telecommunications is defined as
- "the transmission, between or among points specified by the user, of information of the user's choosing, without change in the form or content of the information as sent and received."[1]
- “any transmission, emission or reception of signs, signals, writings, images, and sounds or intelligence of any nature by wire, radio, optical, or other electromagnetic systems.[2]
