The Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) is

a systems engineering framework for enabling efficient and effective delivery of capability to users, and is one of the key processes used for managing . . . acquisition programs and their related projects. The SELC guides the definition, execution, and management of an interdisciplinary set of tasks required to plan, define, design, develop, implement, operate, and dispose of systems.[1]
