Syntactical interoperability

defines the structure or format of data exchange, where there is uniform movement of data from one system to another such that the purpose and meaning of the data is preserved and unaltered. Syntactical interoperability defines the syntax of the data — organization of the bits and bytes — and certain structural descriptions of intermediate processing such as processing for storage, manifesting descriptions, and pipelining. It ensures that data exchanges between systems can be interpreted at the individual data field level.[1]
