Definition Edit

Substantive evidence refers to evidence introduced for what it helps to prove itself. For example, computerized bank records in a credit card fraud case, e-mails in a cyberstalking case, and image files in a child pornography case are all substantive evidence. Each has substantive value in helping to prove an issue in the case.
