A smart toy is a

[t]oy that contains embedded electronic features such that it can adapt to the action of the user.[1]

They can "process more information from a greater variety of sensors. This may include the use of microphones for speech recognition, cameras for detection of patterns and visual cues, accelerometers, proximity sensor, gyroscopes, compasses, radio transmitters or Bluetooth for communicating between various parts of the same toy."[2]
