Citation Edit

Department of Defense, Technology and Privacy Advisory Committee, Safeguarding Privacy in the Fight against Terrorism (TAPAC Report) (Mar. 2004) (full-text).

Overview Edit

TAPAC

In February 2003, TAPAC was tasked with examining the Terrorism Information Awareness (TIA) program and to develop safeguards "to ensure that the application of this or any like technology developed within DOD is carried out in accordance with U.S. law and American values relating to privacy." This Report is the result of that examination. It contains a number of recommendations about how technology can be used to fight terrorism without threatening privacy rights.
