Definition Edit

An SSID (acronym for service set identifier) is

an identifier includ­ed in packets to allow the differentiation between multiple wireless networks. All access points and all devices using a specific wireless network must use the same SSID.
[a] name assigned to a wireless access point that allows stations to distinguish one wireless access point from another.[1]
