A restricted area is

[a]ny area to which access is subject to special restrictions or controls for reasons of security or safeguarding of property or material.[1]
[a] controlled access area established to safeguard classified material, that because of its size or nature, cannot be adequately protected during working hours by the usual safeguards, but that is capable of being stored during non-working hours in an approved repository or secured by other methods approved by the Cognizant Security Agency (CSA).[2]
