Department of Homeland Security, Report to the Public on the Events Surrounding the jetBlue Data Transfer (Feb. 20, 2004) (full-text).

Overview Edit

This report was the result of an inquiry made by the DHS Privacy Office of a potential privacy violation involved the transfer of Passenger Name Records ("PNR") from jetBlue Airways to the Department of Defense — a transfer that occurred with some involvement by TSA personnel. While the incidents in question occurred during 2001 and 2002, preceding the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, the matter raises serious concerns about the proper handling of personally identifiable information by government employees now within the Department of Homeland Security.
