Citation Edit

Portable Electronic Devices Aviation Rulemaking Committee to the Federal Aviation Commission, Recommendations on Expanding the Use of Portable Electronic Devices During Flight (Sept. 30, 2013) (full-text).

Overview Edit

The Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) sets forth a total of 29 recommendations on the expanded use of Portable electronic device (PEDs) on aircraft, including threshold recommendations, as well as recommendations addressing the technical, operational, and safety communications aspects of PED usage.

In creating a decision-making framework for debating recommendations regarding the safe expansion of PED usage in flight, the ARC focused on an approach that lowers the risk of potential PED interference to an acceptable level.
