Quality assurance (QA) (also called quality control or QC) is

[a]ll the planned and systematic actions necessary to provide adequate confidence that a product or service will satisfy given requirements for quality.[1]
[the] (1) Process of regularly evaluating overall project performance to provide confidence that the project will satisfy relevant quality standards. (2) Organizational unit responsible for quality assurance efforts.[2]
