public cloud is
[t]he cloud infrastructure . . . provisioned for open use by the general public. It may be owned, managed, and operated by a business, academic, or government organization, or some combination of them. It exists on the premises of the CSP and/or its suppliers.
Public cloud computing represents a significant
paradigm shift from the conventional norms of an organizational data center to a deperimeterized infrastructure open to use by potential adversaries. The Figure below presents a simple view of a public cloud and its  customers.
