Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, Privacy Impact Assessment Requirements for Use with the Health Information Act (2010) (full-text).

Overview[]

In January 2009, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC) decided to review and revise the OIPC Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) template and guidelines with the needs of the Health Information Act (HIA) as the main focus. This document is the result.

These requirements are mandatory for PIAs submitted under the Health Information Act. Organizations subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) or the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) may also use these requirements as a reference tool to help draft PIAs.
