A petition is:
- The portion of a patent application praying for the grant of a patent.
- A request for the Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks to review and supervise the work of an employee of the Office.
- A written communication to a higher authority within a patent office seeking review of a decision made by an Examiner, on any matter other than rejection of a claim.
