A petition is a written application asking for relief or remedy.

Patent law Edit

A petition is:

  1. The portion of a patent application praying for the grant of a patent.
  2. A request for the Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks to review and supervise the work of an employee of the Office.
  3. A written communication to a higher authority within a patent office seeking review of a decision made by an Examiner, on any matter other than rejection of a claim.[1]
