Definition Edit

Patent flooding is a patent strategy where a rival of a patent owner obtains numerous patents on trivial variants of an initial patent in order to surround the competitor’s patent or technology so the competitor will find itself unable to develop improvements for or find new uses for its patent without cross-licensing its patent with its rival.
