Paging is

a low-cost one-way message-sending systems that use base stations similar to cellular telephone systems.[1]

Computing Edit

Paging is

[a] procedure for moving standard-size blocks of information (pages) between main storage and auxiliary storage units. This is generally used to permit several programs to share main storage concurrently.[2]

Overview (Communications) Edit

One-way paging only allows the receipt of messages consisting of a few digits, typically a phone number that the user is then expected to call. Two-way paging provides a user with the ability to send and receive email, numeric pages, and SMS messages.
