Object reuse is

[t]he removal of residual data from a system resource prior to reassignment and reuse.[1]
[t]he reassignment of a storage medium, which contains residual information, to potentially unauthorized users or processes.[2]
[t]he reassignment and reuse of a storage medium (e.g., page frame, disk sector, magnetic tape, floppy disk) that once contained one or more objects. To be securely reassigned and reused by a new subject, storage media must contain no residual data (magnetic remanence) from the object(s) previously contained in the media.[3]
[r]eassignment and re-use of a storage medium containing one or more objects after ensuring no residual data remains on the storage media.[4]
