Definition
Edit
The Mac OS X is a line of computer operating systems developed, marketed, and sold by Apple Inc. since 2001.
Overview
Edit
Since the launch of Mac OS X, Apple computers have been sold with Mac OS X pre-installed. Mac OS X has also been distributed on a standalone DVD, allowing customers to upgrade their Apple computers to newer versions of Apple's operating system when they are released.
Mac OS X, whether pre-installed or on a DVD, is covered by a software license agreement that states that the software is “licensed, not sold to [the user] by Apple Inc. (“Apple”) for use only under the terms of this License.” Apple's license agreements restrict the use of Mac OS X to Apple computers, and prohibit customers from installing the operating system on non-Apple computers.
