Definition Edit

The nominal transmitting resolution is

[t]he nominal number of pixels per unit distance (ppmm or ppi) of the transmitted image. The transmitting resolution may be the same as the scanning resolution for a particular image. On the other hand, the transmitting resolution may be less than the scanning resolution if the scanned image was subsampled, scaled, or interpolated down before transmission.[1]
