Cable system[]

A node is

[a]n active or passive element in a cable system where Second-Mile fiber connects with coaxial cable.[1]

Computer network[]

A node is

[a] terminal of any branch of a network or an interconnection common to two or more branches of a network.[2]
[a] network element that, while able to generate or receive a data stream across a network link, is not capable of providing an environment for the execution of an application.[3]
