Definition

Network access is

[a]ccess to an information system by a user (or a process acting on behalf of a user) communicating through a network (e.g., local area network, wide area network, Internet).[1]

Overview

"Network access" can be provided through a combination of devices such as personal computers, telephones, interactive television equipment, and card devices with embedded computer chips. The connections are completed principally though telephone lines, cable systems, or wireless technology.
