The National Research Council Committee on Improving Cybersecurity Research is charged with developing a strategy for cybersecurity research at the start of the 21st century. The basic underlying premise is that research can produce a better understanding of why cyberspace is as vulnerable as it is and that such research can lead to new technologies and policies and their effective implementation, making cyberspace safer and more secure.
