Five universities have partnered and collaborated to establish the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium. The consortium is organized around the Community Cyber Security Maturity Model (CCSMM) that emphasizes cybersecurity as being the responsibility of the "whole community." The whole community includes the public and private sectors as well as any individual within the community who accesses the internet or a computer network.
The purpose of the consortium is to provide training and technical assistance to states and communities to develop viable and sustainable cybersecurity programs. This includes the development and delivery of cybersecurity training and cybersecurity exercises, and the use of competitions and workshops to encourage both interests in cybersecurity as well as consideration by individuals of cybersecurity as a career choice.
