Overview Edit

The U.S. Geological Survey's National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) provides a mechanism for accessing the vast amount of existing biological and natural resources data, information products, and analytical tools that support and enhance science-based decision-making. It is the cornerstone for the gathering and efficient transfer of research and monitoring information from all sectors of the global biological community to those who make decisions regarding the study, use, and conservation of natural resources.

In the 2012 President's Budget Request, the NBII is terminated. As a result, the official NBII web site[1] will be removed and all of the NBII social media accounts closed by January 15, 2012.
