Definitions Edit

A module is

General Edit

[a] self-contained unit of a system that performs a specific task or class of tasks for supporting the major function of the system.[1]

Software Edit

a self-contained software component of a business system, which has a well-defined interface to the other software components; something is modular if it includes or uses modules which can be interchanged as units without disassembly of the module. Design, manufacture, repair, etc. of the modules may be complex, but this is not relevant; once the module exists, it can easily be connected to or disconnected from the system.[2]
[a]n independently compilable software component made up of one or more procedures or routines or a combination of procedures and routines.[3]
