The European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites' Meteorological Operational satellite (MetOp) program is a series of three polar-orbiting satellites dedicated to operational meteorology. MetOp satellites are planned to be flown sequentially over 14 years. The first of these satellites was launched in 2006, the second was launched in 2012, and the final satellite in the series is expected to launch in 2017.[1]
