Magnetic remanence is

a measure of the magnetic flux density remaining after removal of an applied magnetic force. Can also mean any data remaining on ADP storage media after removal of the power.[1]
[m]agnetic representation of residual information remaining on a magnetic medium after the medium has been cleared.[2].
