Definition Edit

MD5 hash is

[a]n algorithm created in 1991 by Professor Ronald Rivest that is used to create digital fingerprints of storage media, such as a computer hard drive. When this algorithm is applied to a hard disk, it creates a unique value. Changing the data on the disk in any way will change the MD5 value.[1]
