Least privilege analysis is

[a]ctivity that determines the minimum set of privileges required by individuals, processes, and services to achieve their purpose in support of the mission/business. The analysis determines the attributes to be used in the enforcement of security policy governing access to and the use of the mission/business functions, information, systems, and services.[1]
