Overview Edit

The APEC Knowledge Based Economies Project conducted research in 2004 on innovation in service industries with special reference to electronic commerce, its driving forces, and major impediments to its future uptake. Case studies and analysis were presented with a focus on areas such as the impact of innovation, the changing nature of services, internationalization, competitiveness, and the effects of the Internet, structural change, foreign investment and intellectual property.

This project provided details of innovative business strategies and firm performance in the digital economy, outlines patterns of technological progress, highlights economic contributions of research and development, and illustrates the development of industrial clusters based on Knowledge Based Economies.
