Definition Edit

Internet telephony (also called Voice over IP or VoIP) is a service that allows real-time voice conversations over the Internet. These services work by converting voices into data which can be compressed and split into packets, which are sent over the Internet like any other packets and reassembled as audio output at the receiving end.
