The Home Recording Rights Coalition, (HRRC), an unincorporated association, is a leading advocacy group for consumers’ rights to use home electronics products for private, non-commercial purposes. The members of HRRC include consumers, retailers, manufacturers and professional servicers of consumer electronics products. The HRRC was founded in 1981, in response to the Ninth Circuit’s ruling, in the Betamax litigation, later overturned by the Supreme Court,[1] that distribution of consumer video recorders constituted contributory copyright infringement.
