Definition Edit

A heuristic filter tests an e-mail message for the presence of certain typical features of spam, such as the exclusive use of HTML or the type of customer to whom the e-mail is sent. The test is weighted through a learning process based on a set of known spam e-mails and a set of e-mails known to be legitimate.
