Under these rules, the Secretary of Health and Human Services has adopted the initial set of standards, implementation specifications and certification criteria that are required for the certification of EHR technology. These rules have been aligned to support the achievement of meaningful use stage one by eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals under the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs.[1]
