Handheld interagency identification detection equipment (HIIDE) is

[a] portable, self-contained system used in the field for the tactical identification of persons. The device contains software for collecting biometrics information on thousands of persons. It includes tools for iris, facial and fingerprint collection and matching.[1]

HIIDE is one of several biometric collection devices that feed ABIS with collected biometric information, including that from enemy combatants.
