Citation Edit

Griswold v. Connecticut, 381 U.S. 479 (1965) (full-text).

U.S. Supreme Court Proceedings Edit

The U.S. Supreme Court invalidated a state law prohibiting the sale, dispensing, or use of birth control drugs or devices to married persons because the law was an unconstitutional violation of the fundamental right of privacy. The Court found a right of privacy in the "penumbras" and "emanations" of other constitutional protections.
