Overview[]
Geospatial One-Stop (GOS) is an intergovernmental E-Gov managed by the Department of the Interior in support of the President's E-government Initiative. The goals of GOS are to:
- Develop a data exchange standard and models for geospatial data;
- Create an interactive index and access to geospatial data held by the Federal Government and non-Federal organizations through a web portal; and
- Encourage greater interaction between and among Federal, state, and local agencies plus academia and the private sector.
Geospatial One Stop builds upon its partnership with the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) to improve the ability of the public and government to use geospatial information to support the business of government and facilitate decision-making.
The Geospatial One-Stop website has been renamed Geodata.gov and is now part of Data.gov.
