Established in 1975, the Federal Committee on Statistical Methodology (FCSM):
- Communicates and disseminates information on statistical practice among all federal statistical agencies.
- Recommends the introduction of new methodologies in federal statistical programs to improve data quality.
- Provides a mechanism for statisticians in different federal agencies to meet and exchange ideas.
FCSM has active subcommittees looking at statistical uses of administrative data and privacy issues. In addition, FCSM has permanent working groups that discuss specific topic areas, such as non-response to household surveys.
