Inter-domain protocols, known as Exterior Gateway Protocols (EGPs), route traffic between autonomous systems. EGPs typically enforce policy (i.e., using only policy-feasible paths) and emphasize global stability. The primary EGP deployed today is the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
